Grid Series

Made in 2017, these works contain elements that invite the viewer into spaces beyond what is pictured. Collage-making is itself an exploratory process, and I wanted to express a similar notion of discovery through these pieces.

Like an invitation to open it, 'Stars' has a doorknob visible on the right side of the composition. I was also thinking about the sensation of "seeing stars" from dizziness or dream-like states. The image of heavy, drawn curtains in 'Room' is about a curiosity of the unknown - beyond the curtains is clearly daylight, what could be happening outside?
