Wood Sculpture Series

This series of works explore balance, light, and collage in three dimensions. The geometric forms and softer flowing shapes have been cut from sustainable timber and homegrown bamboo. The single-colour finish allows for the natural light to constantly alter its appearance by creating shadows on its surface.

Wood, glue, paint

This piece, ‘Rising Landscape’ is about the experience of being in a vast, natural environment away from the city. The paintwork reflects warm afternoon sunlight and how it strikes the ground to create blocks of colour or more subtle gradients.

This minimalist piece contains both architectural forms and flowing shapes that intend to bring feelings of tranquility and stability. The glossy paint finish reflects some of the light adding an interactive element to its surface.

'Complex Blue' was first assembled in 2019 and has since been reworked. It now has a slightly ambiguous textured finish that conceals any immediate signs of its material. The weight is balanced across three points, including two bamboo legs giving it the impression of a building on stilts. The texture is created using meticulously applied wood shavings which create an effect similar to the pebbledash found on many British houses, including the house where I grew up.
